Hey there, I get a lot of questions about how I manage my sleep rhythm as a DJ: "Aren't you always tired?"
People are always surprised to hear that I don't have any trouble sleeping, even though I'm often up late at night. 😴
My Best Sleep Hack: Red Light
One of my hacks is that I use the TrueLight Luna Red Sunset Light at home. It's a lightbulb that emits a soft, red light known to induce relaxation and help with sleep onset.
I recommend trying it if you struggle to get a good night's sleep. It's helped me immensely, and I hope it can do the same for you!
What I've Read
Why We Sleep is a well-researched and engaging book on the importance of sleep to human health. It explores the impact of a lack of sleep on the brain and body and why getting enough sleep is vital to maintaining optimal health.
Matthew Walker, a professor of neuroscience and psychology at the University of California at Berkeley, also shares his story about how he became interested in studying sleep after making changes that reduced his chronic insomnia.
The book is an excellent introduction to this critical subject for anyone who wants to learn more about why we need to get a good night's rest.
My Power Naps
I'm the kind of person who has to have technology work for me. Also, I try my best to stick to a schedule for sleep. For example, I wake up at 7 am every day whether or not I go to bed at 10 pm or 5 am. I need to plan extra power naps throughout the day to stay energized.
My Withings Sleep Mat works with my smartphone and monitors how long and well you sleep. I love it that you don't have to wear any devices or put your phone next to you on a nightstand. Every morning I check the quality of my sleep, share it with my girlfriend, and plan the power naps accordingly.
I wish you great sleep!
