Today I want to talk with you about finding a great mentor. This is something that’s been mentioned to me again and again by so many of you in the comments of my videos, in my emails, in my podcast episodes, in things that you’ve shared on my Twitter and LinkedIn.
Okay, so how do you find a great mentor?
In the last year and a half, I have gathered eight people around me whom I see as mentors. The trick is to find experts and inspire them with the questions you have.
If you've been at the top of your field for a long time, it's refreshing to meet someone who surprises you with questions. Which has the energy you still recognize from when you were at the beginning of your career, of your journey, and maybe even of your life.
That has already helped me immensely. I now feel that I am growing daily, as an entrepreneur and as a person.
I think it’s also important that you understand what you want to be mentored about. Often we haven’t really thought about it, or we don’t know what we want to be mentored about, which is fine as well. But I think it’s helpful if you understand what are the topics that you would like to cover.
I'll talk about that in a later post.
