Protect your hearing

If you're not protecting your hearing, you're losing it by Kimberly H. Deason (TEDxWilsonPark)

Kimberly H. Deason: If you're not protecting your hearing, you're losing it. Deason has worked in the Safety Industrial Industry for over 12 years. She offers some valuable tips on how to protect your hearing. Here are three of them:

  1. Use earplugs: One of the easiest ways to protect your hearing is to use earplugs in above 85db environments. Use an app like NIOSH or Decibel X to check the sound levels.
  2. Take breaks from loud noises: If you're exposed to loud noises for an extended period, take breaks from the noise to give your ears a rest. For example, step outside for a few minutes to give your ears a break if you're at a concert.
  3. Turn down the volume: Be mindful of the volume level whether you're listening to music or watching TV. Generally, if you're listening to music with earbuds, you should be able to hear someone talking to you at an average volume.
