Redesign: Nicky Romero

Here’s a little inspiration from my book, Redesign. In it, I talk about the journey of Nicky Romero, one of the top DJs and music producers in the world. He shared openly about his struggles with severe anxiety, which lasted two and a half years. Romero saw more than twelve different therapists and professionals to manage his condition. He felt immense guilt towards his fans due to the pressure of their expectations. His story is a powerful reminder that even those at the top of their game can face significant mental health challenges, and it's okay to seek help and take time to heal.

For those looking to dive into some great reads and watches this summer, here are two book tips and a TED talk to inspire and guide you:

  1. Atomic Habits by James Clear: This book offers practical strategies for forming good habits, breaking bad ones, and mastering the tiny behaviors that lead to remarkable results. Atomic Habits on Amazon
  2. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson: A counterintuitive approach to living a good life, Manson’s book is both refreshing and honest, providing a no-nonsense perspective on how to focus on what really matters. The Subtle Art on Amazon
  3. How to Stay Calm When You Know You'll be Stressed by Daniel Levitin: Neuroscientist Daniel Levitin explains how stress affects our brain and offers a technique called "pre-mortem" to manage it. Watch on YouTube

Stay inspired, stay connected, and keep the techno spirit alive. Subscribe to the show on your favorite platforms, tag fellow techno fans, and reply to this e-mail with an artist you’d like to see featured next.
